Conversations
I came across a couple of articles this week that are really connecting a theme. Quitting seems to be a thing that has been magnified from the pandemic. Mortgage had it pretty bad in 2020 but it’s really becoming a trend for everyone else is 2021. I think we just saw it sooner than everyone else because our industry recovered and grew while others were still stuck. It seems that the pandemic made people feel stagnant and out of control with lots of time to reflect. Quitting is giving American’s a way to feel like they are progressing and are back in control. Although our industry is not seeing the droves of movement we did see last year we are still seeing some attrition rates continue. As you work with your team its more important than even to be connected with them and understand their career progression aspirations. Having regular one on one conversations is vital to their growth and your understanding. Don’t neglect your conversations, they matter.
Apple return to work:
The move comes just two days after Tim Cook sent out a note to Apple employees saying they would need return to the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays starting in the fall. Most employees can work remotely twice a week. They can also be remote for up to two weeks a year, pending manager approval.

Never lose perspective of the humble beginnings
Fear is part of the basic mechanism around you. You may learn to have a healthy relationship with it but you will never let it go
Bravery is not the absence of fear but rather the management of it
Evaluation is the genesis of improvement
Knowing something does nothing . . . doing something does. . .
Whatever you focus on expands
If you win on effort everyday success will take care of its self
Maltz’s theory: He said that a person will not be able to consistently over perform or underperform the self-image he or she has. In other words, if you fundamentally believe you’re an average performer (or a terrific one, or a terrible one), you won’t consistently be able to do a lot better or a lot worse than that baseline self-assessment.
When you focus on something, it literally occupies the forefront of your mind.
preparation and communication makes the difference
Normal is fine. Acceptable. Average. But if you want to do great things, you need to be abnormal.
“Trap of the Viable Excuse.” Watch out for the viable excuse. These rob your success and turn into just plain excuses over time.
Focusing on the things you can’t control actually hurts your ability to focus on the things you can control.
Don’t focus on the problem focus on the solution. come up with one step you can take that can make things better
Your outcomes are a lagging measure of your habits. Your net worth is a lagging measure of your financial habits.
Time magnifies the margin between success and failure. It will multiply whatever you feed it. Good habits make time your ally. Bad habits make time your enemy.
