Pushing Forward

I hope everyone is enjoying an outstanding holiday weekend!

So proud of all the work you guys did in May.  It was a strong production month and it closed out so much smoother than expected. Things are definitely starting to settle down and get back to a more normal flow.  All your hard work is paying off!

The Highlight: Health

Asides from a smooth month end and strong progress on the IT and recruiting side…. The highlight for this week was getting out and hiking with friends.  Unfortunately like many during COVID I have become complacent with my health goals. And it was a great recharge and reminder of why I need to keep moving.  Like we say on the business side if you’re not growing your dying….. and my health account is no different if I’m not pushing forward I am rolling backwards.  I want to be active and able bodied well into the sunset years of my life and without pushing to be active today it’s easy to begin rolling downhill.  NOT FOR ME!

Notes that Resonated:

Happiness happens when we remove the focus from ourselves and begin to serve others

Money is to make you comfortable not happy

Money is a magnifier

Eliminate entitlement and complacency

An amateur panics, but a grand master doesn’t.

Emotion can get the best of all of us and cloud our judgment.

Life is always happening; the way you respond is based on how you process issues.

Spend an hour once a month on the next big problem to solve

The keys to success is having a system

Why should someone work with you

1. What benefits are you currently offering to others?

2. In what way do people improve by associating with you?

3. How many lives have you changed positively in the past year?

Communicate Your Expectations Clearly, Early, and Often

Realists are dreamer that go their heart broken along the way

Podcasts I listened to:

This week’s podcast series with Sean Croxton was about money.  People’s current view on money and their relationship with it has become very distorted.  I found some great insight on some of these and think you may enjoy them.

Top Quotes:

“It’s foolish to believe you can win by playing someone else’s game”

You only have control over your mind—not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength. —Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

No matter how brilliant your mind or strategy, if you’re playing a solo game, you’ll always lose out to a team. —Reid Hoffman, cofounder of LinkedIn

Cool Stuff:

Skin cancer and old ugly skin is really a thing… Hats make such a difference.  These sun hats are light and easy to take on travel.  It’s also a great idea to teach kids while they are young to wear hats.  I found this brand and thought and really like them.  Something for everyone 😊
