Cancers of the Mind
This week I am really trying to recenter my thoughts and my energy. Unwanted negativity, stress, and anxiousness have been creeping into my life. I’m in the middle of reading a book called “Think like a Monk”. In the book there is a section where he discusses what he calls… Cancers of the mind: Comparing, Complaining and Criticism. These three C’s are the root of negativity and rob us of our joy and increase stress and negativity..
The author recommends a game to remove them… Spot, Stop and Swap
Spot- feeling or issue
Stop- to understand what it is
Swap- in a new way of processing
Negativity can creep in because of the people we surround ourselves with, the media we consume, or the situations we allow ourselves to be part of on a daily basis. So as with anything taking the time to spot these areas, stop participating or consuming them and then swapping out other activities or behaviors will help you remove the negativity and replace it with peace and joy.
Action: Try not to complain, compare, or criticize for a week, and keep a tally of how many times you missed the mark. The goal is of course to try and reduce the daily tally to zero 😊.
