This Too Shall Pass

As most of you know, I decided to take a small sabbatical before my next chapter. This week I traveled through Death Valley, Lake Havasu, and Sedona on a "van life" road trip. All are great spots to visit, and I would highly recommend each of them for different reasons. Surprisingly Death Valley is a must see stop.

Since I am on the road, this week’s email is short and sweet.

P.S. For those of you that missed "van life" during COVID (because you were too busy being stressed with production and loan volume),now is the time… get outside and take advantage of the less than crazy market (even if it’s for a weekend).. This too shall pass. Don’t waste it.

Feel free to message me if you need ideas on gear, locations, or what not to do on your #vanlife road trip! 😊

Notes that Resonated:

  • The surfer mentality: riding the waves of life…. It’s about the journey. The high of a good wave never lasts but the low doesn’t either. Find a few good traveling companions. And enjoy riding the wave.  The Surfer Mentality | The Curiosity Chronicle

  • The battles you choose need to help you win the war

  • TRUST is like maintaining a campfire. It doesn’t happen instantly or automatically. You can’t start it and leave and expect it to continue burning. The fire needs a constant supply of oxygen. You need to fan the flame and add more wood. You need to constantly see what needs to be done to keep the flame going… And like fire, trust is a necessity.

  • Need joy or gratitude in a tough situation? Stop and think…. What is beautiful about this moment? You can always find something.

  • Relationships are like jigsaw puzzles

  • To become excellent at something you must spend time practicing and refining your technique until you are truly proficient. Where do you need to get back to practicing?

  • What are the one or two things I can do this week that will have the biggest impact on the scoreboard?

  • What’s the ratio of time you spend fixing problems versus scaling successes?

  • Humans naturally seek out the familiar. The most familiar path is always the status quo but it’s never the road to success.

Videos Watched: Into the storm

 https://youtube.com/shorts/aV4ChaV0DvI?feature=share

Both buffalos and cows can sense a storm coming but each react very differently. Cows try to run away from the storm once they sense it on the horizon. Driven by fear and the desire to avoid the storm, they create excessive pain and prolonged pressure. The cows can never outrun the storm and end up overexerting themselves by trying to avoid the pain.

Buffalos on the other hand behave counter intuitively. They run directly into the storm. Even though they are full of fear just like the cows, they know that by hitting the storm head on the storm will pass sooner and can move on to the greener pastures and fresh water just on the other side of the storm.

What are the areas in your life where you are trying to avoid the storm? Push past it and run towards it so you end up on the other side.

Where in your life do you need to be more like a buffalo than a cow and lean into the storm instead of running away?
