Move Through the Market
Last week’s markets were filled with fear and uncertainty driven by banking seizures and liquidity issues. Although the central banks were quick to react to contain the issues, this week’s financial markets may not feel much different. Today, the week kicked off with the announcement of the forced merger of UBS and their rival, 167-year-old bank Swiss bank, Credit Suisse. Everyone in the financial space is trying to speculate if Jerome Powell will adjust his strategy and back off the anticipated rate hike considering fears of a broader credit crunch and liquidity constraints. The banking issues has investors and economists asking if the Fed has stretched the rubber band too far and if they should ease the pressure before it snaps?
Even ahead of Wednesday’s announcement, investors will be looking for more signs of a stressed banking industry and how regulators will be addressing the issues. The market is currently forecasting a 60% chance the Fed will raise .25% on Wednesday and hold from there in order to let the dust settle. Developments are changing rapidly, but we can likely expect more bumpy markets in the week ahead.
In times of a crazy market, it’s more important than ever to focus on the things we can control and get back to the basic blocking and tackling.
Why do you do what you do…. Our WHY must always be bigger than our what!
What does your perfect week look like? Where are you falling short?
What are the most important activities that you need to do this week to move the needle?
And what do you need to be doing to take your business and/or your life to the next level?
We can’t control the chaos, but we can control our actions. It’s not about the market, it’s about our mindset and movement through the market.

"Burn the Boats" is a coaching/ business book filled with counterintuitive advice for personal and professional growth . The author Matt Higgins shares his life journey to success from dropping out of high school at 16 to becoming a communication leader for the City of New York, a high-level executive of the Jets, a VC funds founder/ Angel Investor of huge businesses (like Fan Vision, Vaynerchuck media, and Momofuku) an executive fellow at Harvard Business School and a Shark Tank guest star. It’s an interesting and twisty ride. This guy just keeps shooting for the moon the entire way. No one’s path is straight and the lessons he shares are great reminders to stick to the journey, embrace change, keep your eye on the next big thing and of course to forget plan “B” and “burn the boats”.
