Red Light Green Light

Mathew McConaughey is a really interesting dude.  He is a great actor but definitely not someone I would have called a thought leader.  He’s a free spirit and a fun loving guy.  Austin still has a shirt printed “bongo naked” commemorating his disturbing the peace arrest 😊

But surprisingly enough the book he published (Thank you for sharing Lindsey) is an interesting account of his life.  Its both entertaining and even thought provoking.  At its core, it’s about dealing with highs and lows, and doing what you can to catch more “greenlights” (positive things that make you go further and faster) then red ones (things in life that slow you down or hold you back).

Some of us are right smack dab in the middle of a red light right now.  Some of us have had green lights for so long we can’t even remember what a red or a yellow light feels like.  But two things are true… Red lights always lead to green ones and we really do have to have a few red lights in our life to be able to appreciate the green ones.

So be diligent and patient and soon the problem you face today will eventually turn into a blessing in your rearview mirror.

A lot of time is spent focusing on about how to increase your effort. But there may be more gained by just reducing the friction that is holding you back.
