GO KATS!

This one is for Shelly….

We used to have this phrase we would say all the time when things were tough but we were pushing through to make it happen  “GO CATS”… Yes you might have guessed Shelly was a cheerleader and her high school team was the cats…. Manuel and I drove by this bale of hay this week and the timing could not have been more perfect.  We all just closed a heavy month and are about to head into a big one… Every manager on this list has a big mountain we are facing. Whether its closing a big backlog of loans, recruiting people or getting imaging to stay alive until we transition to the new LOS we all need a “GO CATS!”  for our teams right now.  SO… GO CATS!

Notes that Resonated:

Most of us have two lives in us. The life we live, and the un-lived life within us. Between the two stands Resistance.

Building a routine is all about persistence and consistency. Don’t wait for inspiration; create a framework for it.

Do you have weekly measures of where we are winning or losing?

Don’t just go with your gut, Test your gut especially when high are the stakes and the reversibility of the decision is low

Take more joy in discovering you are wrong.  You just learned something 😊

Get hot without getting mad.  create productive conflict.  We want task conflict without relational conflict

Know your emotional trigger… leverage humble curiosity to get through those situations

Have a challenge network that are your most thoughtful critics that poke holes in your thought

Surround yourself with givers not takers

As a leader your job is to help people see more in them than they see in themselves

Your expertise is a resource to share

If you are struggling with someone think about what core principles you are bumping up against and can change.  If you are having trouble influencing someone perhaps it’s because you are not allowing them to influence you in anyway.  Golden rule

Narrow and deep not wide and shallow

You have to have a wider lens

Greatness  is just in the other side of failure

We call this a wildly important goal (WIG) to make it clear to the team that this is the goal that matters most

Performance depends on everyone contributing—pulling for the goal

Keep running never give up and watch you kite soar

By clearing the deck first thing in the am (clearing email) you spend the best part of the day on other people’s agenda and can neglect you most valuable work.

Limit your daily to-do list. A 3” × 3” Post-it is perfect—if you can’t fit everything on a list that size, how will you do it all in one day?

Don’t wait for moods, train your brain to work creatively… when you say it’s time

Be better not bitter

THINK before you speak (T.h.i.n.k):  If it doesn’t meet “think” you probably should not say it)

True

Helpful

Inspiring

Necessary

Kind

Leadership is not about being the smartest person in the room it’s about helping other people be as smart as they can

People need to be reminded more than they need to be instructed

The only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. —Steve Jobs
