Go First

"Surround yourself only with people who are going to take you higher. - Oprah Winfrey.

Thank you for all the love and well wishes you sent for my birthday this week. You filled my bucket and lift me higher! Connecting with everyone was a beautiful reminder of the incredible group of friends and community we’ve all built together.

All the conversations and connections got me thinking about how selecting the right tribe/ community is vital to not only our well-being but also to our success.

I’m a firm believer that the tribe you pick will either grow or shrink you. Whether it’s your work tribe, your friend group, or your referral sources…. selecting the right circle of people to surround you will either light you up or drag you down.

But being part of the tribe is only half of it. You can’t just find a great tribe, show up, and expect everything to flow. A community goes two ways. It’s not just about what you receive its more about what you give.

Go first.

My daughter moved into a new community and multiple neighbors have come by her house over the last several weeks to welcome her to the neighborhood and give her music, fresh vegetables, and yesterday fresh baked cookies. Of course their efforts made a difference, The neighbors are creating community, leading with value, and creating comfort, joy, and connection. This is what makes a community work

Go first. Where can you go first? What energy can you share, what value can you bring? How can you light someone up and bring out the best in them? Do this with your work tribe, your referral sources and your friends and it will take you higher.

“All that’s missing is you, your vision, and your passion. Go.” – Seth Godin

Notes that Resonated

  • Nothing happens until AFTER you commit – Dan Sullivan

  • Are you working towards what you are wishing for - Steve Furlik

  • You don’t get results from your wish list you get results from your workflow

  • We fear loss and work to avoid loss more than we seek gain

  • It may feel like disappointment now but later you will see it as development

  • God is preparing you for what he has prepared for you

  • What skills do you need to acquire to 10x leap forward?

  • What do you not know that you need to know?

  • What are you doing to push yourself forward past discomfort and towards a new level?

  • Rough spots are inevitable. Instead of muddling through, connect with your goals and let your deepest desires (your why) pull you forward.

A coaching book on moving your business through a strategy of change instead of through incremental effort and netting 10x growth. Making $1 million dollars would require very different efforts than making $100,000. Dan Sullivan walks you through that though process.
