Burn Out
2020 we and the mortgage Covid boom has really created increased pressure on an already intense industry. March’s volume is going to resurface a ton of these feelings. So we need to be proactive and stay super connected to all of our team members and help them work through a very challenging month. I’ve attached a few reminders of the things that cause burn-out and so we can watch out for these problem and try to help avoid them.
Causes of Burnout:
Lack of control. An inability to influence decisions that affect your job — such as your schedule, assignments or workload — could lead to job burnout. So could a lack of the resources you need to do your work.
Unclear job expectations or lack of Role Clarity. If you're unclear about the degree of authority you have or what your supervisor or others expect from you, you're not likely to feel comfortable at work.
Dysfunctional workplace dynamics. Perhaps you work with an office bully, or you feel undermined by colleagues or your boss micromanages your work. This can contribute to job stress.
Extremes of activity. When a job is monotonous or chaotic, you need constant energy to remain focused — which can lead to fatigue and job burnout.
Lack of social support. If you feel isolated at work and in your personal life, you might feel more stressed.
Work-life imbalance. If your work takes up so much of your time and effort that you don't have the energy to spend time with your family and friends, you might burn out quickly.
Unfair Treatment- if team members feel they are being treated unfairly it can cause them to feel like giving-up
Unmanageable workload- Having a high workload can sometimes be part of the job but if we need to check in regularly to make sure our team members have the skills, tools and/or resources to manage the job
Lack of communication and support- sometime just checking in supporting you team is all they need to feel relevant and get past the temporary pressure
Unreasonable time pressure- making sure LOs and referral partners are not putting unreasonable timelines is a big part of managing the pipeline to release pressure
As leaders our greatest responsibility is to our teams.... Our job as leaders to jump ahead of the stresses and work with our team members to help prevent them
We can only do this by; building trust, staying connected, communicating with our team to check-in a find out how they are feeling, and find out what we can do to help them manage their workload easier. It is up to all of us to continue to build a culture of support and love. And unfortunately, you can’t connect with people over email. Check-in talk to them regularly and even throw in a video “teams” call every once in a while.
Other Notes that Resonated:
Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water but definitely drain the dirty water
“Habits are human nature… Why not mint some that are made of gold”
Do first what matters most…. are you looking at social media or email first or are you filling your cup first. You can’t pour into others if your cup is empty.
Your life seems to go in the direction of you strongest thoughts. Where your mind goes your life will follow.
The average homeowner boasts a net worth ($195,400) that is 36 times that of the average renter ($5,400).
All too often business people are not committed to improving their recruiting skills because they believe that hiring great people is a crap-shoot. Good recruiting is the responsibility of everyone.
TRUST is like making a campfire. You can’t start it and leave, expecting it to continue burning. The fire needs a constant supply of oxygen. You need to fan the flame and add more wood. You need to constantly see what needs to be done to keep the flame going. -your first 100
People play different when they are keeping score. It's not about you keeping score for them- Sean Covey

Last time I shared the article on sunrise alarm clocks…. well, I bought the hatch "smart sleep assistant" and I have to say it’s really cool. It has all kinds of cool features that connect to your smart phone via Bluetooth like ambient sounds, mood lighting and meditation tracks. They also have sound machines and audio monitors for kids and babies.
